• Everyone deserves access to therapy. To us, this means actively disrupting the status quo that has kept BIPOC, queer and trans, neurodivergent, disabled, low-income, immigrant, and other marginalized communities from receiving mental health support. We seek to disrupt these systems throughout the therapy process, starting with intake paperwork and billing policies and extending into the therapy room and the therapeutic alliance. We are committed to disrupting carceral systems and seeking solutions outside of medical and carceral models of mental health and crisis intervention.

  • Everyone gets to show up how they are. We co-create personalized, bespoke therapeutic containers that are rooted in collaborative care and viewing our clients as experts on their own lives. We see frequently-stigmatized behaviors and so-called "resistance" as efforts to meet safety and survival needs, and welcome them into the therapeutic space.

  • Racism and systemic oppression are our problem. Systems of oppression—including racism, ableism, classism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, sizeism, mononormativity, ageism, and others not listed—touch our lives, our client’s lives, and the work we do in every way. Left unexamined, these macro level forces can profoundly impact healing spaces. We are committed to looking at our own social locations, biases, and implicit assumptions and welcome you to join us in this work.

  • Wisdom comes from many places. There are many schools of thought on how to heal, and only some of them have funding and institutional support. Of these, many have capitalized on community knowledge and tradition, often without giving credit to their sources. We believe wisdom can be found in many traditions and many places, within and outside of the frame of "evidence-based" approaches - and we believe that many of these modalities contain valuable insights on how to support our clients' healing. Therefore, we seek to both learn and unlearn evidence-based models of mental health treatment, and also to give gate-kept knowledge back to our community.

  • We are all interconnected. Mental health does not exist in a vacuum—we know that trauma begets trauma, and that many of the burdens our clients carry have been passed down through generations. However, we also know that healing begets healing. Our clients' healing, our healing, and our community's healing are interconnected, and we trust that the healing that happens within our therapy spaces will radiate outward into our families, our communities, and the world.
